Every cold-water shrimp spent its life commuting — hundreds of metres straight up and down, every single day.
Up through the ocean at night to feed in the dark, where predators can’t see it. Back down to the depths at dawn to hide from the daylight. Feeding and safety exist at different depths, so it lived in both — on a schedule set by the sun.
We call it an ingredient. It lived between two worlds.
